Okay I know Iím late with the newsletter. With us getting back from vacation and trying to catch up with work and church, Iíve not done a good job of managing mine or Lornaís time. Just think Trudy only gets a couple of days to update hers, once I remind her itís due this Friday, today is Wednesday.
Since we last reported we had a weekend away with Scott and Heather in Myrtle Beach. We had a great time shopping, eating, shopping, eating and then some more shopping and eating. We even took a few minutes walking out on the beach. The highlight of the trip was touring the USS North Carolina Battleship. The real highlight was watching Scott read ever placard and name plate on the shipment. Heather enjoyed touring the boat because her and Lorna talked and talked. Scott enjoyed learning everything he could about the boat. I enjoyed the tour as I took one picture after another.
The following weekend Lorna and I went up to Ashville, North Carolina and toured the Biltmore Estate. This is the largest private home in the USA. We didnít stay at the Estate, we had to settle for the Courtyard Hotel. The first day we were there it was great weather but we felt we needed to tour the house since the next day being Saturday would be packed with tourists trying to tour the home. By the time we finished touring the home that day we were to exhausted to tour the estate, so I could take pictures. The estate has millions of flowers all over it and they were all in bloom. The best laid plans of Lorna and Chuck donít always work out, the following morning we woke up to 3Ē of snow on the ground with the temperature in the teens with the wind blowing. It was freezing cold. We still toured the estate but the flowers looked rotten and I took very few pictures. What a let down. We promised ourselves weíd go back before the summer is over and try again.
The other major thing to report on was our trip to Utah the second two weeks of June. We had a great time visiting and spending time with the Taylor family. We did two family reunions with them while we were out there. We did get the chance to have lunch with Heather and some of her older children and Jenny and Ross. Next time we are out weíll try to spend more time with the Gwilliam family. The best thing about the trip was spoiling Cole and Emily and believe you me, I did a great job doing it. Lorna needs a little work on raising the bar in spoiling them.
Alise graduated from the cosmology school and has started working at a salon in Riverton. You should have received an announcement about this and where she is working. We are proud of her and what she has accomplished. We would also appreciate anyone who would like to contribute to her cause by using her services at the salon.
Chad and Becky are doing fine. Chad has a slow period with work right now, but August is coming and heíll be working around the clock getting the athletes into school come August. Becky isnít teaching this quarter. Both grandkids are as cute as can be.
Lorna and I are hanging in there between work and church. We are looking forward to Christmas so we can be back out with family.
Love Chuck and Lorna
